These groups constitute a key component of Indonesia\u2019s cultural landscape. With their projects, they engage in a form of activism that continues to react to current social issues. The groups\u2019 open and interdisciplinary structures allow them to operate on local and global scales.<\/p>\n<p>Amanda Rath is a lecturer of Modern and Contemporary Art of Southeast Asia in the Department of Southeast Asian Studies and the Institute of Art History at Goethe-University Frankfurt\/Main.
