It was here in the 10th century that the Vikings gave Greenland its name (which means \u2018grassland\u2019) and it has stuck to this day. Greenland\u2019s agriculture is expanding: sheep farming for meat production and the cultivation of vegetables without the use of pesticides, like potatoes, cabbage and beets. Even strawberries and tomatoes are grown in the greenhouses of the state-run Experimental Farm. Greenland wants to become less dependent on expensive food imports.
