Artist Talk with Bernd Trasberger

Bernd Trasberger (born in 1974 in Mönchengladbach), Germany) lives and works in Berlin. His work focuses on the design and conception of urban life and our perception of it. At last during a research stipend of “Lectoraat Kunst en Publik Ruimte, Amsterdam” he studied the design of facades and corporate architecture of the new bank district of Amsterdam: Zuida. Based on this he compared it with grid facade designs by Egon Eiermann and others in the 1960s. During his stay at Deutsche Börse Residency Program, Trasberger continued his research project, but this time with a focus on the architecture of the bank district in Frankfurt in comparism with architectural references of the architecture of postwar modernity.

Between 1996 and 2000 Bernd Trasberger studied free art at Gerrit Rietveld Academy, Amsterdam, NL and from 2000 to 2002 at HBK Braunschweig. Trasberger took part in numerous national and international solo and group shows, at last a.o. “Stunde Null”, Galerie Lena Brüning, Berlin, “Patina”, site-specific installation for Galerie Enrico Astuni, Bologna, “Belvedere”, W 139, Amsterdam und “Berlin 89/90 – Kunst zwischen Spurensuche und Utopie”, Berlinische Galerie, Berlin.
