Artist Talk with Martin Conrath & Marion Kreißler

01.09.2009

For years now Martin Conrath and Marion Kreißler have been examining the rethoric of politcal parties and, in addition, have been developing artistic stagings in response to this. As their research project entitled „Model Deutschland“ illustrates, the range of election slogan subject matter has for decades been relatively narrow and has also hardly even been linked to any particular party. Everything repeats itself and election campaign slogans have not changed much in style to this day. They document the lack of content as well as the potential for slogans to be interchanged. In their artist talk Martin Conrath und Marion Kreißler were talking about their artistic approach and presented some of their current and former works.

Martin Conrath (born 1958) and Marion Kreißler (born 1958) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe and live in Berlin. Together they developed a contribution for the 5th Werkleitz Biennale (2002) and participated in exhibitions at the Kunstverein Hannover (2003), Neue Gesellschaft für Bildende Kunst Berlin (2002), MuseumsQuartier Wien (2003), Erzeugermarkt Berlin (2008) among many others.
