Artist Talk with Takuji Kogo

15.11.2012

In the context of Deutsche Börse Residency Program

Japanese artist Takuji Kogo’s (*1965) work and production contexts are highly diverse. As director of the “Art Institute Kitakyushu,” he continues, as part of his solo practice, to develop his series of “NON-SITES” consisting of photographic sculptures. However, the focus of his activities lies in the realization of joint projects under the “CANDY FACTORY PROJECTS” moniker. In conjunction with this latter concept, which he initially developed in 1998 in a former sweets factory in Yokohama, he invites artists to collaborate with him in developing site-specific installations, screenings, and web-based works.

In Frankfurt Takuji Kogo is continuing his “CANDY FACTORY PROJECTS” and is working on a special site-specific installation relating to the city. One aspect of the project, among others, is to investigate to what extent the globally active banking sector and the role or Frankfurt as a financial stage influences the daily routine of the city. The results will be presented in the Kitakyushu Biennale 2014.

The talk will be held in English.
