17.04.2026, 18:00
Opening of the exhibition Hidden History – Facets of Subculture in Frankfurt Rhine-Main with performances by Honji Wang and dancers at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm
We warmly invite you and your friends to the opening of the exhibition Hidden History – Facets of Subculture in Frankfurt Rhine-Main at the Frankfurter Kunstverein.
Hidden History is more than an exhibition. It presents protocol spaces of historical and contemporary positions of subversive, subcultural activity in the form of installations, interactive spaces, visual wall newspapers, collaborative wall drawings, tape art, performances, and video installations. The exhibition takes a look behind the scenes of the city and offers insights into a culture that remains hidden from many.
Opening remarks will be given by Franziska Nori, Director of the Frankfurter Kunstverein, and Heiner Blum, curator of the exhibition.
The exhibition will also open with a performative prologue: Internationally active and award-winning Frankfurt-based choreographer and dancer Honji Wang will present two performances together with her dancers at 7:00 pm and 9:00 pm.
Honji Wang, who performs on renowned international stages, brings together hip-hop and urban dance cultures with contemporary choreography. Her works often emerge from an engagement with the urban space and social dynamics.
The opening offers a unique opportunity to experience this internationally acclaimed artist live in Frankfurt. The performances set a powerful impulse for the beginning of the exhibition and open the spaces of the Frankfurter Kunstverein as a site of resonance for urban history, the present, and subcultural practice.
The opening event, including the performances, is free of charge and open to the public.
We look forward to welcoming you!
