HOME NOT SHELTER!

24.10.2015

In the current situation of increasing numbers of refugees, architects and planners are confronted with the task to think about and create suitable living spaces that aren’t just short-termed shelters, but homes.

A cross-country initiative of Universities is now investigating new communal living arrangements for refugees and students. Can urban planning and architectural measures within this area help to improve integration and the chances of participation?

On October 24, 2015 this initiative (provided by the Hans Sauer Foundation as well as the Faculties for Architecture of Technische Universität Berlin, Technische Universität Wien, Jade Hochschule Oldenburg and Universität Hannover) and Frankfurter Kunstverein host a panel discussion on this issue.

Guests and participants are Prof. Jürgen Friedrichs (sociologist/Universität Köln), Simon Takasaki (architect/Universität Hannover), Prof. Hans Drexler (architect/Jade Hochschule Oldenburg), Prof. Alexander Hagner (architect/Technische Universität Wien), Prof. Ralf Pasel (Technische Universität Berlin) and Dr. Marcus Gwechenberger (Nassauische Heimstätte). The discussion is moderated by Rainer Schulze (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung)
