Night of the Museums: Hail-Lightning and Cloud-Sunshine

04.05.2013

During the Night of the Museums, the weather has not only be considered from an artistic point of view – it has also been explored scientifically. Markus Ernst and Stephan Herzog, students of meteorology at the Institute for Atmospheric and Environmental Sciences at Goethe University Frankfurt, have cultivated a cloud in a glass jar, simulated atmospheric currents in a rotating tank and presented other natural phenomena in small experiments. Visitors were invited to participate and to get demonstrations and explanations of natural phenomena.

Questions about the exhibition “Scattered Showers – Forms of Weather” have been answered by guides throughout the entire – wearing shirts saying “Fragen?”(“Questions?”).

The Cafébar im Kunstverein invited to rest and relax. Visitors have found a selection of snacks and cocktails to enjoy while being entertained with reggae, soul, funk, swing to afrobeat by DJ-Set ROTTER/FFM. Their repertoire ranged from the 50s to today’s music. This ensemble have been illustrated by visuals from the animated movie “Fantastic Planet” (1973).
