Finnish Tango-Evening with Lecture and Live Music / lecture by Anke Vogel (Project Nordic Images and Perspectives)
Tango has enjoyed immense popularity in Finland for many years and the Finnish variant is at least as sad and melancholic as its Argentinian counterpart. But why do Finns dance tango and what is its relationship to the soul of the Finnish people? The presentation describes Finnish tango and also introduces other forms of musical expression, for example the Humppa. The evening will be an expedition through the Finnish musical landscape in search of the musical expression of a Finnish identity.
