“come closer / sustainable designforum” is an interdisciplinary platform founded by female designers, which has established a reputation beyond the design scene. Through lectures, discussions, screenings, readings, and exhibitions the non-profit initiative serves as an open forum for future-oriented ideas, bold enterprises, and exemplary business models. Renowned experts, forward-thinking minds, and mavericks in the fields of design, architecture, art, business, and science express their opinions on sustainable development and focus on the eco-social dimensions of social behavior.
come closer continues this critical design discourse in the context of the exhibition
“On the Metaphor of Growth” at the Frankfurter Kunstverein. The paradigm shift has begun, and our wasteful consumption-oriented growth cannot continue like this. Anyone involved in any kind of design process has the capacity to provide positive inspiration, not merely supplying new trends for consumers but offering the substance of a new lifestyle.

Through four different scenarios, come closer identifies the instabilities and shifts manifesting the structures joining consumer product, information, and power. In its aesthetic and sustainability oriented preferences this concept represents a new form of thinking and acting as leading to a society that makes responsible decisions with implications beyond the given generation.
