The 10th edition of the festival once again promotes young artists from the Rhine-Main region. The focus is on interdisciplinary, experimental or performative projects that are realized as cooperations between students from different universities.
The dynamic of the festival is based on the idea of working in a team beyond the confines of the students’ own universities, while the particular topicality and relevance of collective projects in the arts today—but also in cultural and social work in general—is another reason for promoting collaboration between young artists. Cooperation and improvisation are important driving forces for the festival—they are an invitation not only to reproduce, but to create beyond the constraints of formulas and visual conventions.
In performances and installations, the works in the 2022 exhibition are particularly concerned with queer-feminist issues as well as physical and mental states of the in-between. Threshold areas between gender and cultural identities are addressed as well as motifs of community and crisis as a transition to a collective potential.
The tenth festival is a cooperation between the following institutions: University of Arts and Design Offenbach, Academy of Fine Arts Mainz, Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts, Städelschule Frankfurt, Hessian Theatre Academy, and the dramaturgy and curatorial studies programs at Goethe University Frankfurt.
The Frankfurter Kunstverein already hosted the festival in 2016 and 2018, giving numerous young artists from the Rhine-Main region an institutional presentation and national visibility.
