Tales of Resistance and Change. Artists from Argentina

20.08.2010 — 31.10.2010

On the occasion of this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair, with Argentina as guest of honour, the Frankfurter Kunstverein has been presenting the group show “Tales of Resistance and Change. Artists from Argentina” with current positions of Argentinian contemporary art. The exhibition provides insights into contemporary artistic practice over the last ten years, a period marked by political and economic tensions. Its focus lied on works and projects wherein both aesthetic approaches and political awareness were combined, and that cause social and collective situations to be reconsidered as well as initiate new forms of action. The works on show were based on shared processes in which various artists or artist groups, cultural players and activists are integrated. They point out how productive responses could be developed as consequence of a serious crisis caused by neoliberal economy.

During the opening the artist Gabriel Baggio presented his performance “Beef with Frankfurter Grüne Sauce and potatoes. (learing process)” with Dagmar Hesse-Kreindler.

The Frankfurter Kunstverein and the Embassy of Argentina in Germany presented the exhibition “Tales of Resistance and Change. Artists from Argentina” produced by the Organizing Commitee for the participation of the Argentine Republic as Guest of Honour at the 2010 Frankfurt International Book Fair (COFRA).
