Christa Näher was born in Lindau in 1947 and studied at the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin from 1971 to 1980. From 1987 to 2013, she was Professor of Painting at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main.

Where have the horses been for so many years, when they were there from the beginning? Possibly displaced by a present time that needs to be lived up to. Putting impossible things on top of them, over them and then feeling worse and worse deep inside, in these countless soulless roundabouts that try to spread disgusting truths at every turn, until someone comes along again and sweeps a great swath with a sensory stroke, along which they emerge, one after the other. Masters of many worlds, the horses, always present.
