Marco Gastini was born in Turin, Italy, in 1938. In the late sixties, he began with reduced drawings and installations. His work developed continuously, becoming ever more colourful and complex in its material composition. The “pictures” increasingly extended beyond their frame onto the walls and into the room. Marco Gastini’s chosen materials do not appear as symbolically, mythologically or philosophically charged carriers of messages, but rather he uses them primarily as a medium of colour. In their delimitation and openness, in which no part seems to be fixed, Gastini’s works not only create sensual fields of tension, but are also filled with poetry and an uninterpretable inner depth. Until his death in 2018, the painter’s works were exhibited internationally.
