In Between States
12.07.2011
The guest in the Deutsche Börse Residency Program for June and July 2011 was the American artist Paul Amitai, who was in Frankfurt to research his highly personal project “In Between States”. The project consists of a video installation and a network project, which traces the linked histories of a post-war camp for displaced people and an industrial park located outside of Frankfurt. “In Between States” juxtaposes the personal story of Amitai’s family, who lived in the camp, with the larger history of a company, which rebuilt itself into a multinational conglomerate after World War II. In his artist talk on July 12, Paul Amitai presented his work and talked about this special project.
Paul Amitai (born 1975 in Milwaukee, USA) works as an artist, musician, curator, and producer. His works have been shown in North America, Europe, and Australia. He currently organized exhibitions and events as Senior Curator at Eyebeam Art + Technology Center in New York, USA.
Talk will be in English
