Support for Frankfurt Art Institutions in a Time of Transformation

22.01.2013

Since taking up residence in the Steinernes Haus, the Frankfurter Kunstverein has been generously supported by the City of Frankfurt – but also by a number of other partners. How has the relationship between public and private art funding developed over the past decades in Frankfurt, and what kinds of competition can develop between funders, on the one hand, and funded institutions, on the other?

A panel discussion moderated by Michael Hierholzer (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung) with:

Anne-Marie Beckmann (Director, Art Collection Deutsche Börse),
Michael Loulakis (Arts Patron, Chairman of the Board of the Frankfurter Kunstverein),
Sven Matthiesen (Head of Executive Management, Frankfurter Sparkasse 1822),
Silke Schuster-Müller (Director of Social Engagement, DekaBank),
Felix Semmelroth (Director of the Cultural Office, City of Frankfurt am Main),
Ernst Wegener (Deputy Head of the Department for Culture and Art, Hessian Ministry for Science and Art)
