Geoffrey Hendricks was born in New Hampshire in 1931. Nature, myths and folklore, dreams, life as a hermit in the Canadian wilderness and reflections on the sky in the form of skypaintings and skyobjects form the background of his work. His numerous cloud paintings have earned him the nickname “Cloudsmith”. An important element in Geoffrey Hendricks’ work is the plot, but not a calculated, goal-oriented action whose outcome could be predicted, but rather the processual action, the research and search for formulations that exist in space and time and form a language that reaches beyond words. Geoffrey Hendricks is a pioneer of the Fluxus movement and first winner of the MO art prize “Follow me Dada and Fluxus”, created in 2014.
