Performance: “Soil“ by Essi Kausalainen
11.09.2014
Moderation: Eva Maria Gauß (Performer and Senior Researcher University of Marburg)
Perceiving the world as an organic entity, a chaotic body in which all the parts are equally important, Kausalainen makes works in which the space, different species of beings, and things appear as equivalent performers to the human body. She creates ceremony-like situations and events in close collaboration with plants, minerals, and objects to explore their interaction and dialogues. “Soil” is a choreography of actions, positions, processes, and words that ties the performers (bodies, objects, and materials) into an organism–into a being.
Essi Kausalainen (born 1979) has been active in the contemporary art scene since 2000 making performances and exhibitions.
This performance will take place together with the performance “Man-a-machine: Schizoproduction“ by Tero Nauha.
