Stefanie Wuschitz compares activists and artists who are working with open source technologies and hardware on the basis of their projects as well as on their level of subjective agency. She also conducts in-depth interviews in various urban contexts and organizes one-week workshops in order to trace networks of internet developers. The central focus was placed on the question to what extent learning interactive technologies and their applications can be used as a reference framework for promoting desired changes.

Stefanie Wuschitz (born 1981, lives in Vienna) founded the female artist collective “Miss Baltazar’s Laboratory“ when she held the Digital Art Fellowship at Umea University, Sweden. She has taught at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste and at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna. Her work has been exhibited at various places, such as the Austrian Cultural Forum New York City, Galeria Hippolyte Helsinki, Videonale Bonn, Goethe Institut Damaskus, Worm Rotterdam, Transmediale Berlin and at the Ars Electronica Festival in Linz.

The Museum für Kommunikation Frankfurt is hosting the event series DIY Active Art together with the Frankfurter Kunstverein and is supported by the Dr. Marschner Stiftung. “Do It Yourself: Die Mitmach-Revolution“ (“Do It Yourself: A Hands-On Revolution“) is a cooperation with Goethe University Frankfurt.
